Something You Wish You
Could Have Said
This series of black and white images document the emotional things that have been left unsaid. The intent of this work is to allow people to have a positive space to get something off their chest or release things they have never had the chance to say to someone. When people are given that opportunity to be free and express their feelings I was able to capture a wide variety of topics and emotions that include both positive and negative subject matter.
Participants were asked the question, what is something you wish you could have said but never had the chance? This started with me looking back on my old memories and thinking about what I would say to the people in my past. Thinking about things I wish I had said to them now that that time stands between me and that incident. That made me wonder if others think about topics like this and thought maybe people need a positive way to express how they feel about something they never had the opportunity to share or say. I had them write down their responses on a piece of paper and took their photograph. Viewers of this work may be able to relate to the participant’s words, inviting them to reflect on their own personal experiences. Hopefully, seeing others address important topics and get something off their chest will allow the viewer to feel as though they can do the same.
Overall, this is a series about emotions and the things left unsaid. It is all about allowing people a positive space to express themselves and share what they have never had the chance to say.
